Outstanding Maths and English GCSE retake results

The UTC is proud to have achieved an outstanding first set of examination results for its Sixth Form students re-taking Maths and English GCSE

English Language Grade 4+ (Grade C or above) pass rates are 33% above the national average for 17 year olds, with Maths (Higher Tier) Grades 23% higher than the national average. Nearly 60% of English entries were graded 4 or above.

Year 12 student Molly has improved her GCSE English by a remarkable four grades, from a Grade 3 to a Grade 7 (equivalent to the old ‘A’ grade) within one year. Such an improvement is testament to Molly’s dedication throughout the course, not just in English but her commitment to the philosophy of an Engineering and Construction UTC. Molly is very pleased that she made the transition to the UTC last September and says:

“I am passionate about studying Engineering and working on projects with sponsor employers. The UTC has also inspired me to read and write more in my spare time, and this has helped me to transform my creative writing”.
