Colas Rail Ltd is part of the Colas Group and a subsidiary of Bouygues, this heritage gives the company a solid foundation based on a very high level of expertise in rail operations, logistics and technology.
At Colas Rail Ltd we look outwards to our customers seeing things from their point of view. We respect their views, respond to their suggestions and are proactive in anticipating their needs. We are also committed to delivering on our promise, to our employees, the people we work with, our customers and our stakeholders.
We are always on the lookout for young talented people and we can provide an alternative exciting career path with excellent benefits and endless opportunities.
Developing people is key to our operational success at Colas Rail: 25% of our leaders are from our Graduate Schemes, and the Trainee & Apprentice programmes we run are equally as important to closing the skills gap facing the industry.
We build our own talent and develop them on fast track schemes and this in turn results in loyal and passionate employees who deliver brilliantly for our contracts. Our fast track Future Leaders programme can move graduates from a level 2 role to a level 3 in a 2 year time period. On completion of the scheme they continue their progression through our Talent Programmes to a ‘Head of’ level within another 12-24 months. We can demonstrate this approach on our alliance contracts such as S&C, Wessex Capacity Alliance and the Midland Metro Alliance where it produces fantastic results.
We currently have over 150 trainees, graduates and staff being strategically upskilled which makes up around 10% of our workforce. They cover the following:
· Commercial Graduates
· Engineering Graduates
· Trainee Freight Drivers
· Trainee Driver Operator Fitters
· Trainee Engineers (all disciplines)
Our workforce is made up of some of the youngest and diverse people within the industry as we have employees from five different continents delivering for our customers.
We work on some of the continent’s most high-profile projects, including the delivery of major enhancement and maintenance frameworks for Network Rail. We are currently working on some incredibly exciting projects, including our £400 million project to regenerate Waterloo, the busiest station in Europe, over the next three years. We are also delivering major schemes overseas for example in Morocco and Asia and throughout Europe.
We recently won our first contract for Colas Rail Vietnam to create a new line spanning 12.5 kilometres, and stopping at 12 stations, and the construction of an 8.5 kilometre viaduct, a 4-kilometre tunnel and a depot.
