Byrne Group

Who are Byrne Group and what do we do?

Byrne Bros. (Formwork) Limited was established in 1969, originally to provide engineering solutions for sub and superstructure packages. In 1973, Byrne Group was formed to support the activities of Byrne Bros. The expanding Byrne Bros. was subsequently joined by new build, refurbishment and fit-out contractor Ellmer Ltd. in 1977. This afforded the group the opportunity to offer the full spectrum of construction services. Our dedicated teams have had the privilege of working on some of the most iconic projects across London, including:

Shard, London Bridge (Byrne Bros.)

At 310 meters high, the Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, soaring more than 70 floors above London. Byrne Bros. was appointed to carry out the concrete substructure and superstructure works in a contract work more than £50 million.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (THFC) (Ellmer)

Our work consisted of the complete installation of Phase 1 Lower and Upper Concourse fit out, including perimeter and internal walls, wall and floor finishes, sanitaryware, cubicles etc., joinery, doors and ironmongery, roller shutters to WCs, IT rooms, store rooms and food & beverage concessions.

Damac Tower, Vauxhall (Byrne Bros.)

The first of its kind in Europe to be designed in partnership with leading international fashion house VERSACE Home. It is Nicknamed the ‘Jenga’ tower due to its unusual stepped design.

Our people are the heartbeat of our business. We want the people who work with us – our clients, delivery partners and colleagues to be part of our team, not just for one project but for life. Our apprentices play a key role in building our future workforce, and we are committed to the continuation and improvement of the apprenticeships that we offer.

We believe that apprenticeships play an important role in supporting the growth of the construction industry, and, as a company, we are actively involved in promoting and developing apprenticeship schemes across various subjects.

Currently, we offer two different levels of apprenticeship. Our award-winning Level 2 Formwork Apprenticeship Scheme has been running since 2013, annually recruiting up to 13 apprentices to enroll on an NVQ level 2. Byrne Bros.’ training centre in Mitcham is a satellite college for the Norfolk based CITB National Construction College (NCC), which allows us to train and educate our apprentices from our own site in London.

A Higher Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering is a 5-year long degree programme that combines a job with learning, so you earn a wage while developing your skills. Based in the workplace, and working alongside experienced staff, higher apprentices can build a fantastic range of new skills and experience in engineering.
