Newsletter 3

Welcome to this week’s bulletin! We are now very close to the end of term and have a number of important messages to share with you.

News

The UTC enjoyed a very successful Open Evening on Thursday 7th December, assisted by an army of student volunteers. Many thanks to all our students who helped make the evening a success!

Term dates – reminder

As detailed in a recent letter home from Miss Barker, the UTC Christmas Holiday dates and start of next term are as follows:

Term dates

  • Wednesday 20th December 2017 – final day of term before Christmas holiday

Please note, the day will end at 2pm for students.

  • Monday 8th January 2017 – first day of new term

Please refer to the recent letter from Miss Barker for details about the change of date to the start of next term.

Business Dress Policy

The UTC would like to remind parents and students of the Business Dress Policy which makes our community professional and unique. In particular, trousers must be smart and tailored. Tight trousers made of stretch material, leggings and other forms of tight fitting trousers are therefore not allowed. We would like to remind parents, carers and students of this policy prior to the end of term to provide ample time for adjustments to business dress currently being worn if it is unsuitable.

Many thanks again for your support and cooperation in upholding our professional dress code.

Book Donations

Please help if you can – only two donations so far!

The UTC is now collecting reading books donated from students, parents and teachers to create a place for quiet reading and book loan in the College. If you have any books you feel able to donate (fiction, non-fiction, of any age or ability), please bring them in with your child / ward and ask them to hand to Ella at Reception or to Miss Evans. Fiction books of interest to students aged 14 – 19 are preferred, but many types of books are useful and of interest. Many thanks in advance for your support.

Language Skills Clubs

The UTC has the privilege of being linked to Westminster University and its array of Saturday Skills Clubs for students in a range of subject areas. A number of Year 10 students recently attended a Saturday Robotics clubs, for example, at the University of Westminster (which has campuses on Regent Street and other central locations).

I am pleased to present an invite to a set of Saturday Languages Skills Taster Clubs, run by the University. All details and an application form are attached. If you are interested, please email the organizer, b.adofo@westminster.ac.uk copying in Ms Evans to the email, and state your interest in any (or all) of the Saturday clubs. When your name has been confirmed as registered by the organizer, please then bring a completed application form to the first session and hand to the Saturday tutor. If you require help with printing or completing the form, please let me know / ask your son/daughter to inform me.
