Enrichment Activities

All students at Sir Simon Milton Westminster UTC will have the opportunity to try out lots of different experiences. These may be things they have not tried before such as dinghy sailing, or it may be something that they feel passionately about, such as making a difference in the local community through volunteering to help people who may not have as many advantages in their lives as others do.

The UTC is in the centre of the world’s best city – the opportunities that will be available to students are endless! (If you have an idea for something your child may be interested in, do let us know and we will investigate to see if we can organise it.)

  • Perhaps they could volunteer in the local community and at events such as West End Live or with helping out in the endlessly fascinating Westminster City Archives
  • Students could develop their artistic skills with the nationally recognised Arts Award (the Gold award brings UCAS points to help gain a place at university)
  • They could try learning a musical instrument
  • Learn to sing
  • Form a swing band or a string quartet
  • Head out on theatre visits
  • Try water sports on the Thames at the Westminster Boating Base
  • Form a debating society such as The Model United Nations with visits to The Houses of Parliament; learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations that could lead to being a delegate in a Model UN conferences
  • Try something different in sport such as fencing
  • Study for industry qualifications such as the Construction Skills Certification Scheme
